Rec 2 water all clear

Thanks to all those who came along to the Resident Meeting on 20 March to meet with representatives from QLD Health and Gold Coast Water about the recent water cross-connection at Rec Club 2.

All enquiries about this matter should be made to Council on 1300 465 326.

BACKGROUND - Click here to read the initial letter from City of Gold Coast (Council) about the water cross-connection discovered on 6 March at Rec Club 2, resulting in closure of the facility until Sat 8 March. Cross-connection means that Class A + recycled water had been incorrectly plumbed and supplied to fittings that had been installed for potable (drinking) water and vice versa. The water cross-connection was fixed and tested - lab results prove that all's clear. The pool has been emptied, refilled and tested. All water lines have been flushed. Rec Club 2 reopened on the afternoon of Saturday 8 March.

Thanks to the whole community for their patience and understanding. Special thanks to Matt and Michael from CW Management who worked long hours with GC Water to resolve this situation.

The Body Corporate, Body Corporate Managers and CW Management were not responsible for this situation.

Gold Coast Water says there is a very low risk for short-term exposure to Class A + recycled water, however, any residents who are feeling unwell after consuming water, showering or using the pool at Rec Club 2 should contact their doctor. Their doctor should then contact Gold Coast Public Health Unit on 5668 3700.

No ball games at Rec Clubs

The Principal Bodies Corporate have implemented a rule at the Rec Clubs to ban all ball games. This is due to the risk of breaking the glass pool fencing and the decision came in response to Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation which dictates that a committee must act if they determine a hazard in a public area.

Our Security Team will be enforcing this rule.

Please note that tennis balls are only allowed on the tennis courts and that ball games are still allowed on the Rec 2 oval.

Please chat to your children about the dangers of this type of activity. If you notice children playing on any gates then please call Security on 5501 9299.

Water conservation - check your sprinklers

Did you know that South East Queensland is still working under the Queensland Water Commission's Permanent Water Conservation Measures (PWCM)? The PWCM relates to the use of town water (not including recycled water).

Many residents are understandably using their irrigation systems at the moment. Please check your sprinklers to ensure that you are using water efficiently, even when using recycled water. Some systems have been seen not working properly including sprinkler heads not popping up (under grass) and spraying in the wrong direction (including onto driveways and roads).
